Pure Olive Oil
Vegetables (eg Cabbage, Peppers, Zucchini etc)
Roast Flavour TVP Chunks or Mince*
Fresh or Dried Herbs
Vegetarian Stock Cubes, dissolved in boiling water
Red Wine, White Wine or Beer
Vegetarian Gravy (prepare as per directions)
Mashed Potato (Prepared "Instant",
Breadcrumbs (Fresh or Dried)
If using dried
TVP, bring the Wine or Beer and Stock to the boil, then add the
dried TVP. Take off heat, cover and leave to soften.
In a saucepan,
saute the chopped onions and carrots in the oil until softened.
Add crushed garlic, then other chopped vegetables in order of required
cooking time. Add soaked TVP and seasonings to
taste. Use vegetarian gravy, wine or beer to make into a thick
casserole consistency. Thicken as required.
Pour into a
casserole or baking dish. Spoon mashed potato over the top, then
sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake or grill until the topping
Note: If you
can't get dried TVP, you can use frozen or tinned vegetarian mince,
or just use vegetables.
If you're in
a hurry, you can skip the baking stage.
